Transfer Equivalencies

Transfer Students and Students with Dual Enrollment Credit in a Political Science Course

If a transfer political science course needs to be evaluated by UM for equivalency credit, please submit all required documentation to MATES (Miami Academic Transfer Evaluation System) mates.miami.edu.

You must include ALL of the following information.

  • The full syllabus for the course completed. The syllabus must include specific topics covered, textbook used, grading policies, etc. You may also include a schedule of lectures, if available.
  • A link to the course description for the course completed on the other institution's web page.
  • If a course was taken online or hybrid, the syllabus must include the manner in which exams were administered. If this is not included on the syllabus, you will need to contact the instructor of the course you completed or the respective department at the other institution to obtain this information in writing. A screenshot or pdf file of the response must be included in your request. If exams are not proctored in person or video proctored, the course will not be considered.

Requests for evaluations will be answered in the order in which they are received.

FAILURE TO PROVIDE ALL OF THE REQUIRED INFORMATION WILL CAUSE YOUR EVALUATION TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY DELAYED.
