PA Major and Minor Requirements

Requirements for the Major in Public Administration for Students Entering in/after Fall 2017

As a part of the Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration (BPA) program, you must complete a total of 30 POL credits (21 taken in residence) to satisfy the major requirements. You must fulfill all additional university-level requirements in order to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration. You must pass all POL courses with a C- or above in order for the course to count toward the major. These credits must include the following:

Introductory Courses (9 credits) Must take all 3 courses.

Analytical Tools & Communication Skills (6 credits) Take any 2 POL courses from this list:

*Note: A student may not count both POL 510 and POL 517 toward the major.

*Note: Special Topics Courses (POL 595-599) do count for upper-level seminar requirement.

Other Requirements

 You must earn a C- or above in order for a POL course to count toward the minor. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in all POL courses. A minimum of 9 credits must be earned in residency.

An option exists for students to complete both the BA and the MPA in five years. Contact your advisor for more info.
